CPHQ Assists in the Jim Bernstein Community Health Leadership Fellows Program Training

Two of CPHQ’s QI faculty members, along with a subject matter expert from the NC Division of Public Health (DPH), presented at an educational session focused on accountable care communities for the Jim Bernstein Health Leadership Fellows Program on March 13th.

The presentation feature speakers Marcia Fort, EHDI Data Manager for the Children and Youth Branch at DPH, Lou Anne Crawley-Stout, Lean Improvement Advisor at NC State University-Industrial Extension Services and CPHQ, and Dr. Greg Randolph, Director of CPHQ.  Their presentation, “Applying Quality Improvement and Lean Concepts/Tools,” gave Fellows an overview of QI and Lean methodology and provided them with examples on how to apply the tools in their setting.

The mission of the Jim Bernstein Health Leadership Fellows Program is to develop and prepare future leaders to work in, and improve the health status of, rural and underserved communities in North Carolina.  The Fellows Program targets and supports emerging health professionals who exemplify Jim Bernstein's vision and commitment to the belief that:

  • Everyone has a right to health care,
  • Care should be delivered in a respectful, effective and efficient manner, and
  • The health care system belongs to the communities where people live and providers practice.

The Fellows Program will be accepting applications for its next fellowship class beginning Monday, March 2 and closing Monday, June 1.  To learn more about the Fellows Program and how you can apply, please visit the NCFAHP website at http://ncfahp.org/bernstein-fellows.aspx.
