ASTHO Highlights NC's Healthy NC 2020 Efforts as Model for Other States

The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) featured the impressive work of North Carolina’s “Healthy NC 2020” initiative in its recent “Have You Shared” campaign.  The “Have You Shared” initiative as a systematic effort to collect and share stories that highlight promising and useful practices developed by state and territorial health agencies.  The state story titled “North Carolina Division of Public Health Takes Steps to Meet Healthy People 2020 Targets,” was developed by ASTHO’s prevention team, in collaboration with Laura Emerson Edwards, Director of the Center for Healthy North Carolina and Eleanor Howell, Director of the North Carolina State Center for Health Statistics.  It highlights NC’s efforts of involving various stakeholders in creating the Healthy NC 2020 plan, aligning local health department efforts to address Healthy People objectives, and using evidence-based resources as an exemplary way of meeting the Healthy People 2020 targets.
