Quality Improvement Advisor Workshop Prepares Wave 3 Participants to Lead QI in their Organizations

The Quality Improvement Advisor (QIA) program hosted a workshop on December 5-6th for its third cohort.  In the interactive learning program designed to train state and local health department staff, QIAs learn valuable, hands on techniques to support QI within their organization and assist leaders with creating a CQI culture and infrastructure.

“The program was great and covered a lot of helpful information to move forward with QI,” said a QIA program participant.

Participants continued to learn more QI tools and methods and really foster their skills in sharing their QI knowledge with others.  They also learned about the three phases of a Kaizen event, an on-site rapid cycle improvement event, and how to facilitate one of their own through simulation activities.

“The kaizen simulation was fantastic - great learning experience!” said another QIA participant.  “Facilitation and teaching skills were excellent; I appreciate having such high caliber instructors with lots of real-life experiences to draw from.”

The QIA Program creates a network of individuals that have a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and experience with proven methods of QI and CQI implementation.  Going forward, the QIAs will continue to receive QI support and facilitation help from CPHQ, as well as other QIAs through an ongoing learning network.
