The Innovative Approaches (IA) Initiative aims to thoroughly examine and foster improvement for community-wide systems of care that will effectively meet the needs of families of children and youth with special health care needs, resulting in increased family satisfaction with services received and improved outcomes for children and youth with special health care needs. IA uses a systems change approach rather than a program based approach to address community improvements for families of Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN). The Center for Public Health Quality and the NC Division of Public Health Children and Youth Branch, have designed a training course to provide IA grantees the necessary tools to look at the care delivery system, identify gaps in services, and develop and test innovative strategies to improve the system.
The course includes two training sessions (January 24th and February 28th2014), three monthly webinars (November, December, and March 2014), and a set of course resources for each team member. Teams can also choose to participate in an optional one, day on-site consultation to receive more hands-on technical assistance in identifying, prioritizing, and testing strategies that will improve the system of care for CYSHCN.
