Emily Vander Schaaf, MD, MPH, is a Primary Care Research Fellow at the Center for Public Health Quality. Emily assists in incorporating research and data-driven evaluations to strengthen quality improvement (QI) in public health agencies and population health programs. Prior to working at the Center, Emily primarily used QI to improve processes in the general pediatrics clinical setting. Through previous and current public health coursework, she has gained knowledge and skills in research methodologies and data analysis. Emily graduated with a degree in neuroscience from Washington and Lee University, completed medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill, and received her master's degree public health at UNC-Chapel Hill. She completed pediatric residency training at UNC before beginning her current fellowship in primary care research.
