Bill Iacovelli

Bill Iacovelli, MBA, is an improvement specialist with North Carolina State University’s Industrial Extension Service (IES), based in Kannapolis. Since joining IES in 2007, Bill has helped companies, health care systems, and public health departments identify and implement productivity improvements that have resulted in a cumulative economic impact in the millions of dollars. Bill has also assisted organizations in developing systematic, long-term lean implementation and leadership programs through ongoing consultation. He has also co-taught public classes aimed at building a basic understanding of lean thinking and concepts.

Bill has also worked with a medical practice, leading them through value stream mapping to identify waste reduction opportunities and facilitating their facility layout efforts, which incorporated lean concepts to maximize patient throughput and satisfaction and improve staff effectiveness and satisfaction.

Before joining IES, Bill worked for 22 years at Eastman Kodak Company in technical and supervisory positions in manufacturing and research and development. In his last assignment at Kodak, he implemented lean manufacturing in various manufacturing areas, using leadership coaching, kaizen and training events, and other lean tools and techniques. Additionally, Bill practiced computer simulation modeling and analysis for various internal and external clients, including healthcare.

Bill received his B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA (1988). He received his MBA, with a concentration in quality management, from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY (2000).
