An ASQ-certified Six Sigma Black Belt, Iris is currently a Quality & Organizational Excellence Leader in the Department of Operational Efficiency. She coaches process improvement teams using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to continuously improve the care delivered to patients at UNC Health Care and mentors employees and providers to become daily problem-solvers. Iris launched the internal lean program at UNC Health Care, and has led or participated in over 40 lean projects.

Before her work in Lean Six Sigma, Iris was a coach for the Patient Access & Efficiency (PAcE) Initiative at UNC Health Care, a learning collaborative based on IHI’s Breakthrough Series, and used the Model for Improvement methodology to coach outpatient clinic teams to improve access to appointments, reduce no-show rates and decrease patient waiting times.

Prior to joining UNC Health Care, Iris worked at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City overseeing daily operations of several outpatient clinics, as well as assisting in the opening of two major facilities: a 6-story medical office building serving urologic and prostate cancer patients, and a pavilion providing inpatient, outpatient and infusion services for pediatric cancer patients.
