Healthy NC Improvement App (NC IMAPP)

The Center for Public Health Quality and the Center for Healthy North Carolina, working with the Association of Schools of Public Health, Prevention Partners, UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services developed a comprehensive, user-friendly, resource to help community partnerships select and implement evidence-based interventions (EBIs) to improve health in their communities called the Healthy NC Improvement App (NC IMAPP). Currently, existing EBI resources fall short of meeting the needs of practitioners due to their focus on assessing the evidence versus providing resources for selection and implementation – this initiative aims to close that gap. 

The NC IMAPP provides the following advantages:

• Focuses on implementation – NC IMAPP was designed with practitioners in mind! IMAPP includes specific interventions (rather than broad strategies) and contains information on how to implement and where to find additional support for your chosen EBI. 
• Has sophisticated selection features – NC IMAPP has 10 filters to help you easily find an intervention that best fits with your community’s needs. These filters provide a comprehensive set of factors that affect fit, well beyond the typical focus on evidence and impact.
• Acts as a “One Stop Shop” – In addition to intervention-specific details, NC IMAPP also contains general and state-specific EBI resources such as webinars, tools, funding opportunities, educational trainings, and success stories. These resources are organized around Getting to Outcomes® (GTO), an implementation science framework, to provide a thorough, step-by-step approach to EBI implementation for sustained outcomes!
• Encourages community contributions and interactivity – NC IMAPP users can share EBIs they’ve implemented with others users. The site also encourages interactivity by identifying “mentor organizations” and providing a discussion board for communities to share their successes and barriers.
