Training Programs

CPHQ’s aims to collaborate with local, state, and national partners to transform the public health system to foster and support continuous quality improvement (CQI). One component of building a CQI infrastructure includes improving the capacity of the public health workforce to use quality improvement methods and tools. Below is a list of education and training programs currently offered.

 

Public Health Quality Improvement 101 Program

Learning, Experiencing, and Doing Quality Improvement”

PH QI 101 is an interactive learning program for state and local health departments interested in improving the quality of the services they provide.  Participants learn about QI methods and tools and apply what they are learning to specific local projects.  The overall objectives of the program are to help participants:

  • Understand, select, and use QI methods (Model for Improvement and Lean) and tools in their daily activities to improve the efficiency of services within their agency  as well as health outcomes
  • Coach others within their local setting to use QI methods and tools
  • Develop a plan to incorporate QI methods and tools within their local agency so that it becomes “the way we do business”

Quality Improvement Advisor Program

"Coaching Others to Successfully Implement QI."

The QIA program is an interactive learning program to train state and local health department staff to become Quality Improvement Advisors.  QIAs provide QI support within their organization and assist leaders with creating a CQI culture and infrastructure.  Successful participants will receive a QI Advisor Certificate from the Center for Public Health Quality and will be prepared to achieve Public Health Lean Certification.
