2015 Cappie L. Stanley Public Health QI Intern Joins CPHQ Team

The 2015 Cappie L. Stanley Public Health Quality Improvement Internship has been awarded to Eleanor Wertman.  Eleanor is currently working toward a MPH in Health Behavior from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.  In addition to her studies, Eleanor works as a research assistant with the North Carolina Area Health Education Centers (AHEC), supporting AHEC's quality improvement initiatives in primary care practices across the state. Prior to beginning her degree, Eleanor worked for a year as an analyst at a financial litigation firm, and then spent two years as a project specialist at the National Institute for Children’s Health Quality (NICHQ). While at NICHQ, she developed a passion for using quality improvement methods to improve health outcomes for children, and is thrilled to further develop her QI skills at CPHQ.

Sponsored by CPHQ, the Cappie L. Stanley Public Health QI Internship is a paid internship to develop improvement leaders within the public health workforce. The target audience is undergraduates and graduate students interested in a career in public health that incorporates quality improvement as well as members of the current public health workforce interested in transitioning to a career focusing on quality improvement.  The internship will consist of mentored experiential learning at CPHQ guided by the intern's personal learning plan, customized to their specific learning and career goals.
